Privacy policy

This policy explains what data the Vita Board app collects, why we need it and what you can do about it. Vita Board is made by Buna Labs in Ethiopia. We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.

What we collect

• Your phone number, to log you in with an SMS code.
• Your name, nickname and gender, which you enter when you sign up.
• What you add to the app: habits, daily tasks and templates, journals, goals, notes, and finance records (expenses, income, loans, banks and the people you lend to or pay). If you pick a person from your contacts, only the name and number of that person are saved. The app can not read your other contacts.
• Challenges you join. Other people in the same challenge can see your name and your progress.
• Payments: the amount, the date and the payment reference. Card and mobile money details are handled by Chapa; we never see them. For a CBE transfer, the app reads the reference number from your receipt screenshot on your phone. Only the reference number is sent to us, and we check it with the bank.
• A push token, so we can send you reminders and news.
• Technical data: the app version and basic server logs (for example the time of a request), to keep the service working and safe.

Who else gets data

We share only what each service needs to do its job:

• AfroMessage sends the SMS login code to your phone number.
• Google Firebase delivers push notifications using your push token.
• Chapa processes card and mobile money payments.
• Commercial Bank of Ethiopia confirms the reference of a bank transfer.

We may also share data when the law requires it. Your data is stored on our own servers.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete your data as described on the delete your account page.

Your choices

• You can change your name, nickname and gender in the app.
• You can edit or delete anything you add to the app.
• You can turn off notifications in your phone settings.
• You can delete your account at any time.

Security

Data between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS). Login codes are stored only as a secure hash and stop working after 5 minutes.

Children

Vita Board is not made for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we update the date at the top and tell you in the app or on our Telegram channel.
